Why and how governments should support the local music industry

Local music communities consist of musicians, music professionals and music-related business. They are the driving forces of a local music scene, which is a key ingredient of a vibrant music city. The creative industries, including music, have proven to be an essential part of every country’s social and economic standing, which more and more countries are establishing government agencies dedicated to the support and development of those industries. However, sometimes the governments may not have all the answers and needs the feedback from the local players. Our speakers who are leaders of their music scenes in their own right shall share their ideas about how governments can help support the local music industry so they may strive and become a socioeconomic driving force for their cities.
