Indra Ameng – Festival Director of RRREC Fest / ruangrupa, Jakarta
Indra Ameng is a visual artist, curator, and art producer based in Jakarta. In 2001, Indra began working as program coordinator for ruangrupa – an artists’ initiative based in Jakarta, and has participated with ruangrupa in numerous international contemporary art exhibitions, such as: Gwangju Biennale (2002), Istanbul Biennale (2005), Singapore Biennale (2011), Asia Pacific Triennial (2012), Sao Paolo Biennale (2014), and curated Sonsbeek’16 in Arnhem, NL with ruangrupa (2016).
Since 2004, he started managing an Indonesian pop sextet – White Shoes & The Couples Company, up to this day. The band has been featured at many prestigious music festivals such as: SXSW (Austin), CMJ (New York), MIDEM (Cannes), Clockenflap (Hong Kong), and EARS (Helsinki).
In 2005, he started The Secret Agents with Keke Tumbuan and became a duo working on projects involving conceptual photography-based art and promoting good music in the local music scene. The Secret Agents have been running a monthly independent music showcase since 2008 called “SUPERBAD!” at the Jaya Pub Jakarta till today.
From 2011 up to now, Indra is also the Festival Director of RRREC Fest – a three-day alternative festival for music and art with one in Jakarta (RRREC Fest in The City) and one in Sukabumi, West Java (RRREC Fest in The Valley), both showcasing interesting music from South East Asia and beyond.
